Confidence Before God

Today's exposition of 1 John 3:21-22 invites us into one of the most profound truths of the Christian faith: we have unhindered access to our Heavenly Father. The passage explores two beautiful results of having a reassured heart - confidence in communion with God and confidence in communication with Him through prayer. What makes this so remarkable is understanding the contrast with Old Testament worship, where access to God was severely limited, mediated through priests, restricted to certain locations and times, and marked by fear rather than confidence. The high priest could only enter God's presence once a year, with bells sewn into his garments so people outside could hear if he was still alive. But through Christ's sacrifice, the veil separating us from God was torn from top to bottom, opening a new and living way. Now we can approach God's throne of grace with bold confidence, not as trembling servants before an impersonal king, but as beloved children coming to a Father who delights in us. This isn't merely theological information - it's a life-transforming reality. When we grasp that God loves us with the same love He has for His Son Jesus, and that He calls us 'beloved,' our entire perspective shifts. We can bring any concern, any joy, any need before Him, knowing He hears us. This reassurance becomes especially powerful when our hearts condemn us or when we face trials. This message challenges us to move from looking inward at our failures to looking upward at God's greatness and faithfulness.
