Christmas Eve Service
This Christmas Eve service takes us on a journey, through Scripture and song, through the most profound story ever told, one that begins not with celebration but with a crisis. The Christmas narrative opens in Genesis 3:15 with humanity's sin problem—our rebellion against God that separates us from Him. Yet embedded in that moment of judgment is the first glimmering promise: a seed of the woman who would crush the serpent's head. This promise echoes through millennia, from Moses speaking of a coming prophet, to David's eternal throne, to Isaiah's suffering servant who would die for sinners. The anticipation builds until finally, in a humble Bethlehem stable, God Himself enters human history. What makes this story so compelling is that it demands a response. The shepherds didn't just hear the angels and return to their flocks unchanged—they went with haste, they saw, they proclaimed, they glorified God. Christmas isn't merely information to absorb or tradition to observe; it's a divine command to repent and believe. We stand at the crossroads where every person in the Christmas story stood: will we obey? The obedience of Christ—leaving heaven, living perfectly, dying sacrificially—calls forth our obedience in return. This isn't about being nice or religious; it's about recognizing we cannot solve our sin problem and turning to the One who already has.
