Christ-Centered Confidence - Part 2

What does it truly mean to have unshakeable confidence in our salvation? In this exposition of 1 John 5:20-21, we are brought face to face with the breathtaking reality that our eternal security rests not in our own strength or spiritual performance, but entirely in the person and work of Jesus Christ. The passage walks us through three stunning pillars of Christ-centered confidence: the incarnation of God's Son, who left heaven and entered human history to rescue us; the illumination He brings to darkened minds, opening our eyes to saving truth we could never have grasped on our own; and the indwelling union He establishes between the believer and God the Father. This last reality is perhaps the most staggering of all. We who were once alienated and separated from God by sin have been brought into a living, unbreakable union with the one true God. When we feel our assurance wavering, the remedy is not to look harder at ourselves but to fix our gaze more firmly on Christ. He is, as John declares, the true God and eternal life. Everything we need for confidence in our walk with God flows from who He is and what He has done.
