A Divine Description of Apostates - Part 4

May 11, 2025    Matt White

As we come to the end of this section of Yahweh's scathing descriptions of apostate false teachers in Jude 12-13, we continue to be confronted with a stark warning about false teachers and the importance of discernment in our faith. Through three, final vivid images from nature - fruitless trees, wild waves, and wandering stars - we're shown how destructive, deceptive, and dangerous false teachers can be. This passage challenges us to examine the 'fruit' in our own lives and in the lives of those who claim to lead us spiritually. Are we truly rooted in Christ, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, or are we like these 'twice dead' trees? This message reminds us that true faith isn't just about what we say, but about how we live and the impact we have on others. It's a call to stay vigilant and to remain deeply connected to Christ as our true Vine through obedience to His Word to ensure that we're leaving behind the fragrance of Christ rather than the stench of the decay of this body of death (our flesh) in our wake.
